What is the WhisperAI MCP connector?

It's a remote MCP (Model Context Protocol) server at https://whisperai.com/mcp. Once you connect it to Claude or ChatGPT and sign in with your whisperai.com account, your AI assistant can search, read, summarize, translate, and export your transcripts, and transcribe new audio — all from inside the conversation.

Do I need a special plan or an API key?

No. The connector works on every WhisperAI plan, including the free tier, and you sign in with your normal account — no API key or developer plan needed. Transcription uses the same plan minutes and file-size limits as whisperai.com.

How do I connect it to Claude?

In Claude, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector and paste https://whisperai.com/mcp. Claude sends you to whisperai.com to sign in and approve access, and WhisperAI's tools then appear in your chats.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Yes. In ChatGPT, enable developer mode under Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced, then add a connector with the same URL, https://whisperai.com/mcp, and choose OAuth as the authentication method. Sign in with your whisperai.com account and you're set.

Is my audio shared with Anthropic or OpenAI?

No. Files you add through the in-chat uploader travel directly from your device to WhisperAI's storage, never through Anthropic or OpenAI. Only transcript text you explicitly ask for enters the conversation, where it's handled under the assistant provider's own data policies.

What file sizes and formats are supported?

The in-chat uploader supports the same audio and video formats and file-size limits as your plan on whisperai.com — up to 5GB per file on paid plans. Transcribing from a public URL supports files up to 200MB.

Which export formats can I download?

PDF, DOCX, TXT, SRT, and VTT. Ask for an export and the assistant returns a secure download link, valid for 30 minutes and scoped to that one transcript.

How do I disconnect or revoke access?

Remove WhisperAI in Claude under Settings → Connectors, or in ChatGPT under Settings → Apps & Connectors. Disconnecting invalidates the tokens the assistant holds; your transcripts on whisperai.com are untouched.
