Set up once. After that it is a keyboard shortcut and your voice.
Install from the Chrome Web Store, open the side panel and sign in with the account you already have — email, Google or Microsoft. Any paid plan works.
A Gmail draft, a Google Doc, a Slack message, a field in your CRM. Press Alt+S, right-click the box and choose “Start dictation here”, or use the button in the panel.
Words land where your cursor is. Switch tabs mid-thought and dictation follows you. Nothing is kept afterwards — the text only ever exists in the box you put it in.
The extension does not integrate with apps one at a time. It types into the field you clicked, whatever is around it.
There is no integration to wait for. If you can type into it in Chrome, you can dictate into it — including fields inside embedded frames and web components, where dictation tools usually stop.
Start in one tab, switch to another, click a new field, and your words keep arriving where you are. The side panel does not have to stay open.
Give it the key terms you use — people, products, clients — and say what you are writing about. It guides the spelling before the first word is typed.
Pick how finished you want the text before it lands in the field.
Removes “um”, repeats and false starts, and keeps what you corrected yourself to. Text appears after each pause.

These are the reasons to install something rather than open a tab. None of them exist in the web app.
One shortcut starts and stops dictation wherever you are in Chrome, panel open or not. Rebind it in Chrome's own shortcuts settings if it clashes.
“Start dictation here” captures that exact field first, so the first word lands in the right place instead of wherever the focus drifted.
Type wai, then Tab. Enter toggles dictation, “wai record” opens a live recording, and “wai stop” ends whichever one is running.
Turn them on and a draggable pill sits on the page itself. Expand it for the live transcript and the assistant without giving up the side panel's width.
The toolbar icon carries a red REC badge for as long as a recording runs. There is never a question about whether the extension is on.
Because it is an extension, it can take the current tab's sound directly — no “choose what to share” dialog standing between you and the recording.
Speak in 100+ languages, switch between them mid-session, and have the text arrive in a different one if you need it to.
Pick what you will speak before you start, or leave auto-detect on. Mix up to 6 languages in one session if the conversation switches.
Clean, Verbatim and Custom cover those. Choose a language they cannot write yet and the extension quietly falls back to Live words-as-spoken, rather than refusing.
Set a Translate To language and the translated text is what lands in the field — 99 targets, while you are still speaking.

No. Dictation is never saved — the words go to the text field you are typing into and nowhere else, with no transcript kept afterwards. Live recordings are different by design: those are saved to your WhisperAI dashboard so you get a transcript you can come back to.

Yes, when the call runs in a browser tab. The extension spots Google Meet, the Zoom web client, Microsoft Teams and Webex on the tab you are on and offers to record it in one click — and because it is an extension, it can take that tab's audio without Chrome's “choose what to share” dialog. The Zoom and Teams desktop apps cannot be recorded; join in a browser tab instead.
Nothing captured is lost. Audio is sent in numbered pieces and each one is held until WhisperAI confirms it is stored, so a dropped connection replays from where it stopped. If the extension restarts or updates mid-recording, it re-attaches to the session and finishes it, and the recording still arrives in your dashboard.
Chrome. The extension uses Chrome's side panel and tab-audio capture, and it is distributed through the Chrome Web Store. If you would rather not install anything, the WhisperAI web app records meetings in the browser on its own.
